The nine tāras counted from your janma nakṣatra: which nakṣatras are your Sampat, Kṣema and Mitra, which are your Vipat, Pratyari and Vadha, where your planets fall among them, and the Moon’s tāra for each of the next seven days.
How it works
Count from your janma nakṣatra, the one the Moon occupied at your birth, to any other nakṣatra, counting your own as one. Divide by nine and the remainder is the tāra; a remainder of nought is the ninth. The nine tāras run three times through the twenty-seven nakṣatras, so every tāra has three nakṣatras, one in each round.
Sampat, Kṣema, Sādhaka, Mitra and Parama Mitra are favourable. Vipat, Pratyari and Vadha are not, and they are avoided for new beginnings. Janma is mixed. Some books call Pratyari Pratyak, Sādhaka Sādhana and Vadha Naidhana. The same count from your nakṣatra to the Moon’s nakṣatra on a given day is that day’s tāra bala.
The calculator finds your janma nakṣatra from the Moon’s position with the True Citrapakṣa ayanāṁśa, as the nakshatra calculator does. If you use another ayanāṁśa and your Moon is close to the edge of a nakṣatra, pick your nakṣatra from the list instead. Nothing you enter here leaves your browser.
